what an end to our four years
I, sauntering in my mandatory bikini,
leave you on the worm-infested picnic table
and refuse to look back.
down to the shady basketball court
in search of that awkward boy
who calls me beautiful.
feet burning on flaming asphalt
aviators on my face,
I have done all I can do.
goodbye, junior high.
goodbye, innocence.
goodbye, almost love.
